Coaches are typically little more than sideline ornamentation in sports games, but they can make or break your team in NBA 2K18 thanks to a new system proficiency feature. Each coach prefers to run a particular system, like Phil Jackson’s triangle offense or Mike D’Antoni’s “seven seconds or less” scheme. If your roster fits into that system, you are rewarded with several on-court boosts. If you run a system the coach or players aren’t well versed in, then expect your team to come up short when the buzzer rings.

Following the lead of the popular MyCareer mode, this year the MyGM mode featuers a new narrative structure that sheds light on the behind-the-scenes drama that plays out in NBA locker rooms.
