Apple has just released iOS 10.3.3, the latest version of its mobile operating system, and it's one update you should install as soon as you can.
Along with the other garden-variety security and bug fixes, iOS 10.3.3 also has a patch for a serious Wi-Fi chip flaw that could allow a hacker to take over your phone without interaction from you.
The flaw, dubbed as Broadpwn, was discovered by security researcher Nitay Artenstein and it affects Broadcom's line of BCM43xx Wi-Fi chips used by a variety of Android and iOS gadgets. Affected iOS gadgets include the iPhone 5 and later, iPad 4 and later, and the sixth generation iPod touch. Google has already issued a patch for the Broadpwn bug in some of its Android devices earlier this month.
In its security content page, Apple describes the bug as a 'memory corruption issue' and 'an attacker within range may be able to execute arbitrary code on the Wi-Fi chip.'

If you can recall, Apple also patched a similar issue with Broadcom's Wi-Fi system-on-chip (SoC) with iOS 10.3.1.
Now that the issue is patched, Artenstein will demonstrate how he discovered the hack at the Black Hat Conference on July 27.
Although the Broadpwn is the most serious fix in iOS 10.3.3, there are security fixes included in the release. These include patches for bugs in Contacts, Messages, Notifications, Safari, CoreAudio and WebKit.
