There's a new Sims 4 PC update available via Origin. If you have auto updates enabled in 'Application Settings', the game will auto-update once. The Sims 4: New Game Patch (March 8th, 2018).

We recently reported on vampires coming to The Sims 4 as paid DLC later this month, but Maxis have just surprised us all with another creature that’s hellbent on stealing the life-force of others: toddlers.

Toddlers have been on the community’s wishlist for a long time, and there’s been no hint they were ever coming, so this should be a nice surprise to any Sims fans.

Previously, newborn sims would begin life as a baby – essentially a static object, just like real life – before turning into a teenager. As a parent of an angry six-year-old, it does feel like this happens in real life too, but this glosses over the grace period before they learn to tell you to shut up and instead keep you awake all night.

The last time toddlers were seen in the series was in The Sims 3. Maxis say they put a lot of thought into creating toddlers, beavering away on development in secret over the last couple of years.

You’ll be able to teach your kids new skills through using flash cards, help them learn to babble like a sim, and even to go to the potty. Bonding happens during bedtime stories, cuddles, and chatting about stuff the child is interested in.

  Mods/cc may have been broken by the patch and may be causing the issues.
  Move your mods folder to the desktop. Then start the game and test to see if that helps the issues. If it does help, then put your mods/CC back into the newly generated mods folder in the sims 4 folder one by one or in batches and testing the game after each one to see which is the cause of the problem. Put one item or batch in , test the game , take it out. Then test another one, to find the cause of the issue.

• I don't have any mods or CC. I did restart and it worked the second time. Just need to save before aging up from now on.

• Hello all. Since the toddler update the male husband doesnt show up on the control bar and tried to manage household to add him back in but doesnt work. When they try to do something like taking care of the baby, it would reset. Everything they tried to do it resets it. I do have mods/cc in game. What should I do?

  There has been a new version of MC Command Center mod released today. If you use this mod, it would be good to remove the old version and download/install the new version. It may help with your issue.

  If you use the module connected with MC Command Center, that can't be mentioned on the forums, it has been causing issues. Remove it and see if there is an updated version to install

• I had the same issue and I don't use mods or cc. Had to roll back to a previous save, and I just waited for the baby to age up naturally instead of using the 'age up' option and it aged up fine. Hopefully they will fix this issue in a patch so we don't have to wait for babies to auto age.

  I haven't tried the aging up from a baby yet, but my game keeps crashing when my pregnant sim gives birth and names it(click ok and then game crashes).
  Has this happened to anyone else today after the new patch?
  I only have some cc, no mods.
  Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

• Here's a thought though.... my sim was pregnant pre-patch. I wonder if that has anything to do with it? I guess I could test it by getting a new sim pregnant now and seeing if it still happens. I might try that tonight.

  Sometimes having a large amount of items in the sims inventories and household inventory can cause issues. Try removing some of the items from the inventories and see if that helps.

• I've tried a second pregnant, which would be after patch installed and my game still crashed.
  Can't remember if she was pregnant before the patch - but I tried it again anyway.

  If the issues still remain, repairing the game may help. To do that, right click on the sims 4 picture in Origin and click repair.
  Try resetting your sims 4 folder and see if that helps. To do that, move your sims 4 folder ( that is in Documents -Electronic Arts - then the sims 4 folder is there ) to the desktop. • To start with, I took out everything in the mods folder and tested game. The baby can be born no problem and aged up.
  So, it's something in my cc - going to load it on bit by bit and find out the route of the problem.

  Yeah but this was like the minute the toddler ages up it says Days until aging up zero (if that makes sense?) so I was trying to figure out why it said aging up in zero days when the toddler literally just became a toddler!
  But thank you so much for your help! I was able to find out what was wrong, there was an aging mod in my game which I don't remember downloading and that was affecting my game!

• I just downloaded the update and I do have mods enabled. I noticed when attempting to create a toddler in CAS that it only gives them light brown eyes, with no color change options at the top. I took out my mods in batches, but no matter what I removed it was still occurring. When I check 'Disable Mods' it does give me the option to change the eye color in CAS. Please help?
• Since the Toddlers patch, not a single sims can have babies. They get pregnant, then when they give birth...nothing, no baby. I removed the only mod I had and restarted the game, same problem. A friend of mine without mods has had the same issue and only since toddlers were added. I've tried a fresh save without any current families, and same issue. I'm seeing people all over having this problem, which means that there's something wrong in the script that's conflicting with toddlers.
  Another linked problem to the update that I've encountered is that sims that age up from child to teen are still only befriending children as though they're not teens. I have a similar issue with a young adult only befriending teens. There's definitely some kind of glitch in script. I know that with every big update that there will be glitches, but this one just makes me sad, because I want to play with the new toddlers update, but I want them to age up from babies, but no babies are being had, just air.
